Mercedes-Benz showcased the newly launched GLE 450 AMG Coupe at the Auto Expo.
The GLE Coupe aims to take on the BMW X6 which did not have any competition till now
The coupe SUV is based on the GLE SUV and was launched at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January this year.
The interiors and the equipment list will be similar to the SUV. The exterior will be based on the SUV but will feature a sloping roof to make the vehicle look more sporty. The GLE Coupe will get LED headlights, LED tail lights and a new high definition 8.0-inch COMAND screen. On the safety front, the car gets features like Active Parking Assist, Adaptive airbags, Pre-Safe system, Crosswind Assist, Attention Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and Adaptive brake lights.
The SUV comes loaded with equipment and safety features
The GLE 450 AMG Coupe is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine producing 367 bhp and 520 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels via Mercedes’s 4MATIC system. It accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds and it goes on to an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The Coupe returns 10.92 kms to a litre of fuel. The SUV rides on black painted 21-inch AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels.
While the BMW X6 is only available with a diesel engine, the GLE Coupe is available with only a petrol engine
The Coupe SUV has been priced at INR 86.40 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It competes against the BMW X6, which till now had no competition. While the X6 is available only with a diesel engine, the GLE Coupe is available only with a petrol engine.
