The Honda BR-V has been launched in Thailand in both 5- and 7-seater configuration priced at THB 750,000 (Rs. 14.26 lakhs) and THB 820,000 (Rs. 15.59 lakhs) respectively. The car has been launched there with only a petrol engine option mated to a CVT automatic gearbox, but in India it will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. It is powered by the free-revving 1.5-litre petrol that produces 119PS of max power and a 1.5-litre Earth Dreams diesel that produces a healthy 100PS. Both the petrol and the diesel will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while only the petrol will be available with a CVT automatic gearbox which Honda claims to have completely re-engineered for this car.

On the insides the Honda BR-V sports 3 rows of seating which adds to its practicality. This will also be the only car in its class to offer such convenience. The middle and third row can be adjusted by sliding the seats while the backrest in the last row can be adjusted to two positions. The third row gets a 50:50 split configuration which can be folded down flat to reveal a huge boot. The 5-seater variant will have a 60:40 split middle row. It gets a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports DVDs, Bluetooth telephony, USB, AUX and an audio/visual support via HDMI cable. Other features on offer are One Push Ignition System, Honda Smart Key System and automatic air-conditioning system.

The car is offered with a host of safety features like dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and a rearview camera, as standard in both variants. The BR-V when launched in India though is expected to get safety equipment like airbags and ABS as standard on all variants. The Honda BR-V is expected to cost between Rs. 8.50 lakhs to Rs. 13.50 lakhs and will compete with cars like the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. It is all set to launch next week at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Stay tuned to ICB for more launch updates!
