BMW has once again tops the luxury car sales for the year 2015 for the fifth time in a row.
BMW has once again tops the luxury car sales for the year 2015 for the fifth time in a row. Behind them, Mercedes-Benz overtook Audi to finish in second place.
BMW sold more cars than any other luxury car manufacturer in 2015 for the fifth year in a row.
BMW sales grew 5.2% compared to the sales the previous sales. They sold 19,05,234 cars. This has helped BMW retain the title of world’s best-selling luxury car brand. Mercedes-Benz sales sky rocketed this year. It grew by 13.4% during the same period and they sold 18,71,511 cars. This helped them get past Audi, who saw an increase in sales even after the emission scandal came into light. Audi managed to sell 18,03,250 cars which accounts for a rise of 3.6%.
“In 2015, we launched a total of 15 new or refreshed models and our results show that these innovative new vehicles are popular with customers,” BMW sales and marketing boss Ian Robertson said. “Our sales grew consistently throughout the year, despite headwinds in some markets.”
In India, BMW sells the 1-series hatchback, 3-series sedan, 5-series sedan, Gran Turismo, 6-series Gran Coupe, 7-series sedan, X1 SUV, X3 SUV, X5 SUV, X6 SAC, Z4 roadster, M3 sedan, M4 coupe, M5 sedan, M6 Gran Coupe, X5M SUV, X6M SAC and the i8 hybrid coupe. The range starts at INR 26.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and goes up to INR 2.29 crores (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
This year, BMW is expected to launch the next generation of the X1 SUV, X4 SAC, i3 electric city car, 3-series facelift sedan and the next generation of the 7-series luxury sedan. The M2 performance coupe is also expected soon. It will be shown at the Auto Expo along with new X1, new 7-series, new 3-series and the rest of the German company’s current line-up in India.
