Piecha Design 'Rottweiler' AMG C63
An angry name for a very angry C-Class; who's for 612hp?

Mercedes tuning has a rich and varied history, but with the advent of more turbocharged AMG models we can surely expect many more in the near future. It's simpler tuning than before too, upping boost and adjusting fuelling a less labour intensive process than new cams, uprated pistons and the like. This is the latest uber AMG, the Piecha Design Rottweiler. And that really is the name, Piecha Design having plied their trade in fast Mercedes from the town of Rottweil for 30 years. It's a good name to tell the neighbours when they ask what the hell your car is too.

Described by Piecha as "more steroid-packed" than ever, it certainly appears to have the performance to match those claims. Power from the 4.0-litre 'hot-V' V8 is now up to 612hp through a plug-in remap, reversible at any time but sold with a warranty. Torque has climbed too, the rear tyres now having to do battle with 619lb ft. Piecha claims a 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds.

Moreover, it would appear it's not just online commentators who have found the appearance of the latest C63 a little meek; Piecha says it has added "some masculinity to the rather soft W205 body contours". That has been achieved through a lip on the front and a rear spoiler, plus dropping the car on Piecha's own coilovers. A more sedate option - their words, not ours - is available with regular lowering springs and wheel spacers. The wheels are also from Piecha, with 19-inch MP1 or 20-inch MP5 LXM wheels offered. It's certainly more masculine now!

Price details haven't yet been released, but Piecha has ensured all the parts meet TUV regulations. The graphics also may be an acquired taste, but the idea of more than 600hp in a C-Class estate should be enough to make any PHer smile. And it's called a Rottweiler! Prepare your worst 'man's best friend' jokes now...
