Ashok Leyland, one of the top commercial vehicle manufacturer in India has bagged a contract worth $200 million (Rs. 1,334 crore) to deliver 3,600 vehicles over the next 12 months to Cote D’Ivoire. Cote d’Ivoire is a West African country with beach resorts, rainforests and is commonly referred as Ivory Coast.
Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja Group, signed a contract with the Government of Cote D’Ivoire and is being funded by EXIM Bank of India. The contract is currently pending clearance from the respective governments. Mr. Vinod K. Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said, “I am proud that the Government of Cote D’Ivoire has chosen products from Ashok Leyland, well-renowned for their reliability and quality. This is the largest contract for this country with any firm in India and also represents the largest such contract till date for the company. We are proud to be partnering with the visionary Government of Cote D’Ivoire and look forward to building this as a base for further growth in West Africa. I also would like to acknowledge the tremendous support from EXIM Bank, Ministry of Commerce, and the Indian Embassy in bringing this large contract to fruition.”
