Volvo Launches Largest Capacity Dump Truck for Mining Applications

Volvo Trucks launched two new large capacity 5-axle dump trucks for various mining applications namely the FMX 520 10×4 dump truck with 26.1 Cu.m body and FMX 480 10×4 dump truck with 24 Cu.m body at Excon 2015 .

Volvo Grouphas been in India for quite some time now. While they seen limited success with the passenger cars, the company is known largely for its range of trucks and buses in India. Volvo Trucks launched its highest capacity dump trucks making them the only manufacturer in India to offer a 5-axle truck specific to the mining industry. The FMX 520 10×4 dump truck offers a 33 percent higher capacity, while the FMX 480 10×4 offers a 28 percent higher capacity compared to the other 8x4s available in the market currently. These trucks are specifically aimed at the coal mining industry and have been designed to increase productivity with the increasing demands of coal production in India. The company also showcased its flagship FMX 440 8x4I shift model along with a customized coal haulage truck with a 33 Cu.m body. Volvo Trucks currently enjoys a 65 percent market share in the high performance mining truck category and the company plans to build on this in the coming future.
