Mahindra showcased the Xplorer Edition of the KUV 100 at the Auto Expo. The Xplorer Edition is a cosmetically pumped version of the KUV 100 to make it look more rugged.
The KUV 100 Xplorer edition gets only a few cosmetic changes to make it look more rugged
The Xplorer edition gets silver body cladding on the front, sides (side skirts) and at the rear. It also gets black cladding on the front air dam and roof. The silver cladding is also present on the tail lamps. The mini SUV gets ‘KUV100 Xplorer’ badging on the side, behind the swept back headlamps. It also gets bonnet scoops, rugged plastic wheel arches, new rear spoiler with LED stop lamp and side door mouldings. On the inside, there are no changes at all.
The KUV 100 is powered by a new petrol engine or a diesel engine and it competes with small hatchbacks
The KUV 100 is powered by a petrol engine or a diesel engine. The petrol engine is a 1.2 litre, three cylinder mFalcon G80 engine producing 82 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and power is sent to the front wheels. It returns 18.15 kms to a litre of fuel. The diesel engine is a 1.2 litre, three cylinder mFalcon D75 engine producing 77 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. It returns 25.32 kms to a litre of fuel. It rides on 14-inch tyres and can seat 5 people (3+2 configuration) or 6 people (3+3 configuration).
The Mahindra KUV 100 starts at INR 4.45 lakhs (Ex-showroom, New Delhi) and goes up to INR 6.84 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It competes against hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Honda Brio.
