The Royal Enfield Himalayan is the most anticipated bike of the year 2016. On a number of occasions the bike has been spotted testing but no one really knew when it was going to be launched. So finally, Royal Enfield has announced that it will be launching the Himalayan adventure tourer motorcycle on the 2nd of February. The bike has been co-developed with Harris Performance Products which is also responsible for the Continental GT Cafe Racer. Ace rider CS Santosh has been a consistent part of the Himalayan project mainly with the off-road testing, who was the only participant from India to take part in the recently held Dakar rally.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan will be powered by a 400cc single cylinder motor that churns out 25BHP of max power. The engine will also feature a an overhead camshaft, oil cooling tech and a 4-stroke layout for better low end responses. The bike will have a service interval at a car like 10,000Kms, while a mandatory spark plug change is ordered at 25,000Kms. The bike gets a few off road features like a raised suspension with 21-inch wheels upfront and 19-inchers at the rear with thorough off-road tyres wrapped around them. The engine and sides of the bike are protected by metal rods, while panniers can be had either in metal or leather.

The bike also gets a semi digital instrument cluster with features like a compass and altimeter apart from regulars like a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, tripmeter, time, etc. The bike will be priced around Rs. 1.80 lakhs ex-showroom with ABS offered as an optional extra.
