The new BMW X1 is larger in size as compared to the outgoing version with 53mm more height and a 36mm raised front seating position. New BMW X1 will have a more commanding stature and it also gets a four wheel drive. The improved size has been translated to a larger and more spacious cabin. With the increased dimensions, new BMW X1 offers 37mm more knee room and around 85litres of more cargo space. Once the rear seats are folded, the car gives a cargo space of 1,550 litres. The roofline is higher which gives the small wagon like model a feel of a full grown SUV.
On the inside the BMW characteristics will be followed with comfortable seating, posh quality materials and superior fitments. It will also have first time features like full LED headlights, Dynamic Damper Control along with BMW head-up display which showcases all information on the windscreen and Driving Assistant Plus system. A BMW is always known for its drivability and the new BMW X1 is no different. It comes with the BMW’s xDrive which is coupled with a front wheel drive technology. The list of features in new BMW X1is pretty long and quite exhaustive while the technology used is as efficient as one expects it to be.
The chassis for new BMW X1 will allow a more comfortable drive with active dampers that will be optional and will allow adjusting of sport of comfort ride modes. The European model will come with variants where five will have four cylinder engines whereas two will be three cylinder engines, in diesel and petrol options. The car might get 2-litre four cylinder turbocharged engine for the US. The options for transmissions for the new BMW X1 will be six speed manual and eight speed automatic gearbox.
For the Indian market, new BMW X1will come in somewhere around the first half of next year. It will come in via the CKD route and will be assembled at the BMW Chennai facility.
