Reports suggest that McLaren will be building a new hardcore variant of their hardcore version of their supercar, the 650S. It is expected to be launched at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
McLaren 675LT
The new car will be more powerful and more track oriented than the 675LT. It will be limited to only 25 units and all of them will be coupes. A spider version of the car has not been ruled out yet. Powering the new performance oriented car will be the same 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine that does duty on the 650S and the 675LT. Power output will go up from 675 bhp in the 675LT to 688 bhp. It will get a new rear wing to increase downforce.
The 675LT coupe was launched at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. Only 500 units are being and all of them have been sold out. It is a lightweight, track-focused evolution of the McLaren 650S. The convertible version, the 675LT Spider is also limited to 500 units and all are sold out.
The 675LT is powered by a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine producing 666 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and power is sent to the rear wheels. It features lightweight titanium exhausts and a carbon fibre chassis that has been set up for handling. The suspension components have been taken from the McLaren P1 hypercar. Stopping power is provided by carbon brakes. The car rides on 19-inch and 20-inch wheels with Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tyres on them. The car weighs 1,328 kgs (DIN weight).
The supercar accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 2.9 seconds and 200 kmph in 7.9 seconds and it goes on to a top speed of 330 kmph. The car returns 11.547 kms to a litre of fuel and gives out 275 grammes of carbon dioxide every kilometre.
