Just one and a half years after launch, Lamborghini has already given the Huracan LP 610-4 a few updates.
Among the updates received, the 2016 model gets a cylinder deactivation system. This is the first time that the system has been added to a naturally aspirated V10 engine. When full engine capacity is not required, five cylinders are temporarily deactivated by switching off the cylinder bank. When the driver accelerates, the system switches back instantaneously to ten cylinders. The change is not noticeable for the driver. This helps in increasing fuel efficiency and reducing carbon dioxide emission which now stand at 283 g/km.
Along with cylinder deactivation, Lamborghini has tuned the electronically controlled 4WD system to improve driving behavior. On the inside, it gets leather on the door handles and on the upper parts of the centre console. The air vents have been painted in matt black.
The Lamborghini Ad Personam has also received updates. The personalization program gets more options like more exterior colours and matt paints. Customers can also customize the interiors now.
The Huracan also gets more options now. These include the Lamborghini’s Sensonum audio system which is a 390-watt system with a ten-channel amplifier. The sound system also gets ten loudspeakers in hexagonal-shaped grilles and the exclusive Sensonum badge. The optional transparent engine bonnet and carbon fiber engine compartment can now be had with LED lighting in the engine compartment. You can also get cruise control and a travel pack which provides additional storage in the front and rear and an additional 12V lighter and cupholders.
These updates are available for the Huracan coupe and the new Huracan Spider, which was launched at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
There no changes to the drivetrain of the baby Lamborghini other than the cylinder deactivation system. It is powered by a 5.2 litre naturally aspirated V10 engine producing 602 hp and 560 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed LDF dual-clutch transmission and power is sent to all four wheels. It accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds and goes on to a top speed of more than 325 kmph.
Lamborghini might soon launch a rear wheel drive Huracan.
Prices for the 2016 model remains the same. In India, the Huracan coupe costs INR 3.43 crores (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Spider will soon be launched here. The supercar competes with the Audi R8, Ferrari 488, Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Mclaren 650S.
