Mahindra KUV100 Gathers 21,000 Bookings Since Launch

Mahindra announced that its smallest SUV the KUV100 has gathered 21,000 bookings already since it was launched in January 2016.

Mahindra announced that its smallest SUV the KUV100 has gathered 21,000 bookings already since it was launched in January 2016. The KUV100 has received a phenomenal 1.75 lakh enquiries and more than 2.7 million visits on its website during the same period.

Mahindra KUV100 was launched last month at a starting price of Rs. 4.42 lakhs with two engine options and a total of 4 variants each. The 1.2-litre motor produces 82BHP of power and 115Nm of torque under the new series, ‘mFalcon’. This engine has been developed with Ssangyong and will be the base for future 4-cylinder 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines. The 1.2-litre diesel is also all-new and is the smallest oil burner manufactured by Mahindra. It develops 77BHP and 190Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel claims a mileage of 25.22Km/L which is the best among SUVs in India while the petrol claims 18.2Km/L.

On the insides, the car will mark a comeback of the flat bench front seat and will be positioned as a 6-seater. The gearlever is mounted high up on the dashboard that frees up space for the 6th passenger upfront. The car gets a Bluetooth infotainment system that features a display screen. It also features a full blown multi info display in the instrument cluster, while the steering comes with audio controls mounted on them. The cabin feels spacious enough but the tiny rear windows might make a few feel claustrophobic. Boot space is spacious too at 243 litres.

The Mahindra KUV100 competes with the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10. Although it will see some direct competition very soon in the form of the Maruti Ignis which will be launched during mid-2016. The car will be sold via Maruti’s premium NEXA network and will share engine options with the Swift hatchback.
