Aston Martin Vulcan roars at Yas Marina
Remember when track days were a few quid to screech round some cones on an airfield?

Most of us would be pretty chuffed with a stripped and caged hot hatch as a track day knockabout. Better funded? OK, maybe one of the faster Caterhams, a Zenos or perhaps a Radical. Really flush? Six figures will get you something really serious like the forthcomingor (newly accommodating). There are, of course, those able to stretch to seven figures for their annual track day budget. We've already compared theavailable from Ferrari, McLaren and Aston Martin but these shots from last week at Yas Marina offer a sense of the first track outings for owners of.

In true 'wish you were here?' form they show a gaggle of Vulcans (the official collective noun ... honest) on Yas Marina, the accompanying press release offering a sense of what the owners got up to on the first stage of their three-year 'driver experience programme'. Beyond the financial commitment of stumping up nearly £2m for a Vulcan the opening event saw Aston Martin Racing's lead driver Darren Turner and his team helping owners get to grips with a track only, 820hp Aston Martin.

Apparently they started out in V12 Vantage S road cars before switching to accompanied runs in Vantage GT4 race cars. Only then did they get to try out their own Vulcans, Aston Martin offering a vicarious view of life as an owner via an official release. Actually more fun than an airfield day in something disposable bought on a Shed budget though? Discuss!
