After updating the Volkswagen Vento, Volkswagen Group is all set to update its sister car, the Skoda Rapid. The updated car has been spied testing for the first time.
The facelift will mainly see cosmetic changes to the front end of the vehicle
The majority of the changes on the new car are on the front of the car. It gets a new bonnet, new front bumper, new headlights, and a new grille. It looks like a mini- Octaviafrom the front. The rear does not seem to get many significant changes. The overall design of the sedan is now sharper than the current car and will look like the European spec car. The interiors will also see a few small updates and it might also get some more equipment.
The engines are expected to cut but they could get a small increase in power
The same engines powering the current car are expected to continue to the new car. It is a 1.6-litre petrol unit and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. Power output is expected to go up with the facelift from the current 104 bhp and 153 Nm of torque and 104 bhp and 250 Nm of torque respectively. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual clutch DSG automatic gearbox and power is sent to the front wheels.
The Skoda Rapid facelift will launch during the festive season
The Skoda Rapid facelift is expected to be launched around the festive season later this year and it will compete with Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Fluidic Verna 4S, Ford Fiesta, Fiat Linea, Nissan Sunny and the Renault Scala. The current car starts at INR 7.71 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and goes up to INR 11.86 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
