Mercedes-Benz has launched a special edition E-Class in India called the ‘Edition E’ at Rs. 48.60 lakhs ex-showroom, Pune. The car gets many new features and could be last update the car receives before the all new model arrives early next year.
Mercedes-Benz cars have been icons with each and every generation. They are robust, engineered to the limit and offer luxury at its best. Mercedes-Benz in India has that cult status even today that sets it apart from any other luxury car maker including the two German brands. The current generation E-Class was launched about 6 years back in India and has since then has undergone a major facelift around midway since then. The latest 2016 W213 E-Class was shown off last month and India will get it early next year. So just to keep the sales for the current car moving and to celebrate 20 years of the E-Class’s existence in India, Mercedes-Benz has launched a new ‘Edition E’ E-Class today.
The Mercedes-Benz Edition E visually looks similar to the standard model and will be available in the E200, E250 CDI and E350 CDI avatar. The E350 CDI is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel that churns out 265PS and has a top speed of 250Km/hr. The E250 CDI on the other hand develops 203PS from its 2.1-litres of displacement and has a top speed of 242Km/hr. The E200 is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that develops 184PS. All engines are mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic termed as 7G-Tronic by the company. The car gets safety features like Pre-Safe, Adaptive High Beam Assist, Attention Assist, Active Park Assist, 360-degree camera and Intelligent Light System.
The Edition E gets new features like a SD card Navigation, sporty pedal cluster, illuminated star, black hub caps, MB apps and ‘Edition E’ badges on the E200 and E250 CDI models. The E350 CDI gets added features like a Keyless Go Package, illuminated door sill panels and rear seat entertainment package in addition to the features from the other two models. Mercedes-Benz also had on display all generations of the E-Class sold in India including the W124 (international model years 1993-1995), W210 (1995-2002), W211 (2002-2009) and the current W212 (2009-present).
