Lexus sells millionth hybrid

Lexus is celebrating a significant milestone for its electrified vehicles, delivering its millionth hybrid to a customer in Milan, Italy.

Lexus sells millionth hybrid

The achievement was reached 11 years since Toyota's luxury division began selling its first hybrid model, the RX 400h. The crossover was followed by the GS 450h sedan in 2006, while the more powerful LS 600h arrived a year later.

The millionth vehicle was the RX's smaller sibling, the NX 300h, which arrived on the market in 2014.

Lexus now claims to offer the widest range of hybrid models among any luxury brand. Customers can pick from 10 different fuel-sipping vehicles, including the CT, NX, RX, ES, GS and LS.

North America represents the brand's most important hybrid market, accounting for more than a third of collective sales. Europe is next, followed closely by Japan.

Lexus remains committed to further expanding its hybrid lineup. The company recently introduced the sporty LC 500hcoupe, while a three-row hybrid RXis expected to arrive on the market within the next two years.
