Another young PHer educated in the world of Gran Turismo. That would explain the £60K 22B then...
Name : Ryan HironsPreviously owned : None (poor student life)
Currently owned : None - see above
On the shortlist : "Growing up in the early noughties with Gran Turismo and a dad who was obsessed with rally cars, I've always been surrounded with Imprezas, Evos and the like; one AWD Japanese monster has to be on the list. Filling the rest of the garage would need a more practical choice and a toy for the track."
Cost : £3,750
Balance : £96,250
Why I chose it : "As a 20-year-old, I'll take this as my practical, first car choice. It ticks the first car boxes pretty well: a small hatchback and capable of carrying around a mate or two. Sure, a 1.0 would probably be a much better choice insurance-wise and there's enough power for me to put it in a ditch, but I can dream, right?"
Subaru Impreza 22B STi
Cost : £59,995
Balance : £36,255
Why I chose it : "The unicorn of all Imprezas and previously a poster on my bedroom wall. My dad had an RA Impreza of the same generation which was a fantastic way to be dropped off at school; the rumble of that 2.0-litre boxer sticks with me to this day! Not only that, but some of my earliest motorsport memories come from Colin McRae hammering his WRC Impreza through forest stages as well as collecting it in Gran Turismo 3."
Cost : £26,240
Balance : £10,015
Why I chose it : "The car to drive to the track on the weekend. It's still new enough to be in warranty and parts would be easy to come by, making it ideal for thrashing about without worry. Light, RWD and easy sideways fun, alongside the MX-5 I can't think of many better cars to comfortably drive to the track and push to the limits without hitting supercar prices."
Cost : £8,000
Balance : £2,015
Why I chose it : "I'm going to need something to carry tyres for the GT86!"
