GM’s mini MPV, the Chevrolet Spin has been spotted testing extensively on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
has been spotted testing extensively on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Our reader, Arya Borhade sent us an exclusive video of the car which helps us point out to various finer details of the car’s exterior styling.
The Chevrolet Spin is a 7-seater mini MPV from General Motorsthat is sold in markets like Indonesia and Brazil. The company will be soon launching the car in India and the exclusive spy video reveals a lot about its looks. The front of the car features the familiar Chevrolet 2-piece grille and large peeled back headlights. The front bumper houses round foglamps and the number plate right below the front grille. The window area on the car is reasonable and the car will be offered with 15-inch alloy wheels which themselves fill up the wheel arches quite well. There are additional roof rails on top to finish off that MPV look. The rear gets large wraparound taillights and a wiper too. The lower lip of the boot means that loading of luggage won’t occur much a problem but with all 7 seats up we feel there wont be much space left in there.
As far as engine options go, the Spin will be powered by similar engine options like a 1.2-litre petrol that does duty on the Sail sedan and the 1.3-litre diesel unit from the Enjoy MPV. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual strictly and we will have to wait and watch if GM offers it with an automatic gearbox as the cars sold elsewhere in the world are also offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Chevrolet Spin will be positioned above the Enjoy MPVand will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and Hyundai’s upcoming mini MPV. It is based on the Gamma II platform from GM and measures 4,360mm in length, 1,735mm in width, 1,664mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,620mm. It has a ground clearance of 191mm and a weighs 1,277Kgs with all the liquids in place.
