5 years back, the whole motoring world went into a tizzy. Everyone had the same adjectives for it.. a spacecraft or a stealth fighter. Nobody was wrong because it was really one of its kind, probably from the outer world. The world quickly lapped it up in a grand fashion.

Fathom this, its predecessor, the Lamborghini Murcielagosold 4,099 in 10 years from 2001-10. On 22nd March 2016, 5000th Aventador rolled off the production line meaning it sold more cars in half the time!! The car to have the honour was the red (Rosso Bia) Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster with a black interior and it was built for the Italian market. The company had a small ceremony to celebrate the landmark outside their plant in Bologna, Italy.
There have been many limited edition runs within the Aventador family like the Aventador J which was a one of one, the Venenoand the most recent is the Centenariowhich was launched at the Geneva Motor Show to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Lamborghini’s founder Ferrucio Lamborghini. It is priced at $1.95 million and only 40 of them will be made all of which have already been sold. For comparison’s sake, the regular Lamborghini Aventador costs $399,500.

Even after 6 years of existence, the Aventador specs feel anything but dates. This famous Italian bull generates 690 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque from its mid-mounted 6.0L V12 engine and it needs just 2.9 seconds to sprint from naught to 100 km/h and can go up to a top speed of 350 km/h. Power is sent to all four-wheel by a 7-speed robotized single clutch gearbox. The Aventador Super Veloce is slightly faster with 740hp and 690Nm of torque arriving at 5500 rpm. It reaches 100 kmph in 2.8 seconds!

The company expects the Aventador to reach about 10,000 units in sale by the time its replacement arrives in a few years time, probably another 4 years.
